Brookport Bridge Remains Closed/Traffic Backed up on I24

2/6/2014

Picture
The Brookport Bridge remains closed at this time. No word at this time on when it is to be opened. There has been no melting on the bridge surface. This has caused traffic to route across the I24 bridge. The construction on the I24 bridge has caused even more problems with the excess traffic. At noon today (02/06/14) we are seeing traffic backing up in both directions on I24. Please avoid using the I24 bridge if it all possible. The main roadways in Massac County are clear. However, we are seeing travel problems on the less used side roads. Thawing and refreezing is causing major travel problems on these less used roads.
